As a teacher educator for more than a decade, I helped to prepare many hundreds of candidates in NY and PA for successful and rewarding careers as elementary and secondary teachers, reading teachers/specialists, and literacy coaches. Let me leverage that experience for your school, district, or agency.
On a fee-for-service basis, I provide in-person or virtual professional development workshops related to literacy assessment and instruction, Common Core-aligned teaching practices for ELA classrooms, disciplinary literacy practices, the development of effective Tier 3 interventions under the Response to Intervention framework, vocabulary building with Latin and Greek roots and affixes, or any other literacy-related topic you request.
For Parents!
You need workshops, too. Parents need to be empowered to be equal partners in the education of their children. Parents of students who struggle are in particular need of workshops and coaching to help them learn and practice home-teaching strategies and to develop confidence as educators. Let me develop in-person or virtual parent workshops or design a coaching program for your school, district, agency, or homeschooling co-op.
Guided Book Study Groups
I am also available to design and facilitate in-person or online professional book study groups with teachers, paraprofessionals, and/or parents. Professional book study groups are a powerful form of professional development. Based on your needs and interests, I can suggest both structures for this kind of group work and titles of books for consideration.
