Our son is 10 and enjoyed learning about the building blocks Greek & Latin roots into words he uses as well as understanding how to explore the meaning of new words; we could see the wheels turning in his head during the class. He took chances on words that were similar to what they were learning but did not have the same meaning and Dr. Karen provided wonderful redirection and made the class a safe area to make mistakes, which is important to us in our sons learning. My son was...so motivated to work that I didn't have to remind himMy 11-yr old son is taking three online classes and this [Vocabulary Building with Latin and Greek Roots and Affixes, Level 1] was his favorite. He enjoyed preparing a slide each week [related to a chosen Latin or Greek root] to share with his class. I appreciated that he had a little assignment, but was so motivated to work on it that I didn’t have to remind him. He said that everyone was engaged and participated in the discussions. He is signed up for level 2 and says he wants to complete all four levels available.

A wonderful series of classes. An opportunity not to be missed, to study with Dr. Wieland. I wish I was offered classes like these when I was a child. My daughter is doing the entire series, and it has been fantastic, English decoded. Dr. Wieland’s course is immersive and compelling, my daughter loved every single session. My daughter might not have had the benefit of etymology until college/university, but here it is, it is suitable for children and leaves them with deep understanding and literacy skills for life. I cannot recommend Dr. Wieland’s courses highly enough. Rating 5/5

A great turning pointMy son was afforded the opportunity to work with Dr. Wieland individually with the Wilson Reading program. This structured, systematic, sequential, multisensory phonics approach provided him with many opportunities to increase his word recognition abilities. This was a great turning point for him and the results were amazing. In no time he was reading novels by Ray Bradbury and American short fiction. We went from this teachers telling us he might never read at grade level to their being impressed with his independent reading abilities. My son does better in all aspects of his school work for the simple reason that he can read the directions on tests as well as the material on the test itself. My husband and I are amazed at his increased fluency when we listen to him read and we are so proud to hear him have discussions with adults about The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, and other books he has read. Brilliant Wilson Reading tutorDr. Karen has been instrumental part of my son’s education through her one on one tutoring with [him]. She maintains a level of efficiency that is fueled by her obvious work ethic and her professional concern for her students’ progress. When dealing with Dr. Karen, it is immediately evident that she has a love for the profession and a sincere interest in and concern for the students. Furthermore, she spends many hours with an individual student’s tutoring and working on reading strategies on her own time to help less capable readers. KNOWLEDGEABLE AND COMPASSIONATEMy 15 year old grand daughter has a reading disability diagnosed in second grade, for which a systematic, structured, phonics based approach to remediation was required. She has been working with Dr. Wieland for approximately 2 1/2 years using the Wilson Reading system to develop decoding skills and vocabulary, content and contextual exercises to improve her fluency and overall reading abilities. This type of specific targeted one to one approach to her reading disability was not available to her in school.
