An exceptional teacherDr. Karen is an exceptional teacher. I would highly recommend her to any parent seeking foundational instruction spelling and reading. She is incredibly dedicated, caring, friendly, engaged with her student and really knows her stuff! It’s quite clear that, for her, this teaching is a calling rather than an extra source of income. My daughter actually looks forward to her phonics sessions with Dr. Karen. That says a lot. In two weeks of intense sessions, we have already noticed a distinct improvement. A wonderful series of classes. An opportunity not to be missed, to study with Dr. Wieland. I wish I was offered classes like these when I was a child. My daughter is doing the entire series, and it has been fantastic, English decoded. Dr. Wieland’s course is immersive and compelling, my daughter loved every single session. My daughter might not have had the benefit of etymology until college/university, but here it is, it is suitable for children and leaves them with deep understanding and literacy skills for life. I cannot recommend Dr. Wieland’s courses highly enough. Rating 5/5

I worked with Karen Wieland for many years in the programs at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, as well as an affiliate, friend, and advisor, when I was teaching at the State University of New York at Buffalo and Niagara University, and when I was working in professional and semi-professional theater in Buffalo. Paraphrasing the words of opera singer Nadine Asher Washington, who workshopped with Karen’s students at St. Joe’s in 1990, Karen is the best teacher she’s known, particularly for young people; all came out in beautiful shape, with varied abilities to sing various genres of music, and with absolutely exceptional technique, freedom, and health. Our son is 10 and enjoyed learning about the building blocks Greek & Latin roots into words he uses as well as understanding how to explore the meaning of new words; we could see the wheels turning in his head during the class. He took chances on words that were similar to what they were learning but did not have the same meaning and Dr. Karen provided wonderful redirection and made the class a safe area to make mistakes, which is important to us in our sons learning.
