From Latin to French to Greek to old Germanic roots, you taught me how to read and write the way my brain works. My son was...so motivated to work that I didn't have to remind himMy 11-yr old son is taking three online classes and this [Vocabulary Building with Latin and Greek Roots and Affixes, Level 1] was his favorite. He enjoyed preparing a slide each week [related to a chosen Latin or Greek root] to share with his class. I appreciated that he had a little assignment, but was so motivated to work on it that I didn’t have to remind him. He said that everyone was engaged and participated in the discussions. He is signed up for level 2 and says he wants to complete all four levels available.

Great Sense of Humor and EnthusiasmI took a survey on Outschool the other day and they asked me what they could do to make Outschool even better. I said that they should clone Dr. Karen Wieland and have her teaching a lot more classes. I feel like a lot of other Outschool teachers could really benefit from taking a page out of your style guide. The way that you chat with the students and get them warmed up and comfortable, you really allow them to make their discoveries for themselves, and just the way that you maintain a great sense of humor and enthusiasm through the whole class/course is really exceptional.

Incredibly Dedicated, Caring, FriendlyDr. Karen is an exceptional teacher. I would highly recommend her to any parent seeking foundational instruction spelling and reading. She is incredibly dedicated, caring, friendly, engaged with her student and really knows her stuff! It’s quite clear that, for her, this teaching is a calling rather than an extra source of income. My daughter actually looks forward to her phonics sessions with Dr. Karen. That says a lot. In two weeks of intense sessions, we have already noticed a distinct improvement.
