By the way, as I had mentioned before, [my son] is dyslexic, and thus has some difficulty with written work. I signed him up for the 2nd part of this class because he told me I had to. He told me that so many more words make sense to him now because he can see how they add up. He thinks more mathematically so these classes have put pieces together for him that he was unable to connect before. This is the first language class we have done that he has personally requested to continue! So, thank you for all you are doing. It is making a difference for him, and he is enjoying it!

An exceptional teacherDr. Karen is an exceptional teacher. I would highly recommend her to any parent seeking foundational instruction spelling and reading. She is incredibly dedicated, caring, friendly, engaged with her student and really knows her stuff! It’s quite clear that, for her, this teaching is a calling rather than an extra source of income. My daughter actually looks forward to her phonics sessions with Dr. Karen. That says a lot. In two weeks of intense sessions, we have already noticed a distinct improvement. My son thoroughly enjoyed his experience with Dr. Wieland’s class. Learning Latin and Greek roots using Google docs gave him the sense of teamwork with his fellow students. A great turning pointMy son was afforded the opportunity to work with Dr. Wieland individually with the Wilson Reading program. This structured, systematic, sequential, multisensory phonics approach provided him with many opportunities to increase his word recognition abilities. This was a great turning point for him and the results were amazing. In no time he was reading novels by Ray Bradbury and American short fiction. We went from this teachers telling us he might never read at grade level to their being impressed with his independent reading abilities. My son does better in all aspects of his school work for the simple reason that he can read the directions on tests as well as the material on the test itself. My husband and I are amazed at his increased fluency when we listen to him read and we are so proud to hear him have discussions with adults about The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, and other books he has read.
